CLOSE TO MCMINNVILLE'S BEST SPOTS

The historic Wortman House, built in 1905, served as a home and multi-use office space since then. It’s now a vacation rental—your home away from home.

Next to the railroad and one block from McMinnville’s famous Third Street, the town’s finest dining, wine tasting, shopping and strolling are just steps away. View the map here.

Four bedrooms, filled with art and antiques

With four bedrooms and two baths on two floors; a wide front porch, full kitchen, formal dining room and comfortable living room, you’ll appreciate the antiques, beautiful woodwork, and art throughout the house. Furnished for comfort and relaxation, cook when you want in the well-equipped kitchen, or wander downtown or to the Granary District for breakfast, brunch, coffee, lunch or dinner. See room details

If you prefer to cook at home, stock your kitchen with everything you need from Harvest Fresh Grocery and Deli , on the corner of Third and Cowls. Or May through October, on Thursdays 1 pm to 6 pm, visit the Farmers Market on Cowls for fresh everything, wine tasting, music and gifts.

Collections and antiques are showcased

After nearly a year of organizing, moving, remodeling, painting, and choosing furniture, antiques and art, this beautiful old home opened in April of 2017 as a vacation rental. Colors and furnishings are chosen to honor the history of the house and reflect its character.

When the owner’s father passed away August of 2015, his estate contributed many of the Asian antiques, including the handsome tansu chest in the upstairs office/lounge. His bequest also helped fund the remodel. He would be proud, we’re sure.

Furnishings and art have come from the owner’s collection—especially the iconic Art Nouveau posters by Alphonse Mucha hung throughout—and from her mother’s well-honed antiquing skills. Her mother also contributed handmade drapes, covered headboards and cushions, and chose and hung the antique linen tea towels that serve as curtains in many rooms upstairs.

Relax, dine, go for a brew, taste Oregon’s wines

What do they say about location? This location at the end of Fourth Street means you’re in the center of everything in McMinnville.

Relax in front of the Smart TV, or head for a brew at the Grain Station or cross the railroad tracks to Golden Valley Restaurant and Brewery (great food, too). Or walk to the next block for wood-fired pizza and burgers upstairs at the 1882 Grille, or fine dining, incredible steaks, and exceptional cocktails at the Barberry.

How can a town of 33,000 have so many good restaurants in such a compact area? Simple. Tourists come from around the world to explore Oregon wine country, and McMinnville is the epicenter.

The Oregonian

In the mood for wine? Sample the line-up of big reds at Terra Vina Wines, or try an Oregon favorite, Pinot noir, across the street at R.Stuart or up the road at Elizabeth Chambers Cellars. Then bring your new favorite wine home to enjoy with friends on the old-fashioned front porch.

There are so many more places to dine, taste, sip and shop, too many to list here. Check out a more extensive list here.

But you don’t need to be a wine wonk to appreciate the valley’s good life. The rustic agricultural area, with its lavish greenery, small-town atmosphere, and abundant outdoor recreational opportunities, remains true to its roots, unlike certain other regions that have sprouted faux châteaus and haute airs.

Why the logo display?

From 2001 to 2016, this wonderful old house was the office of Creative Company, a marketing and branding firm. Designers worked upstairs in what is now the green room; account managers in what’s now the blue office/lounge area; and the owner, Jennifer Larsen Morrow, worked in the sunroom, with her desk tucked under the angle of the ceiling where the curtained closet is now. The panel room housed the production manager; and client and company meetings were held in the dining room, then the conference room.

Founded in Salem in 1978, Creative Company has now moved to the cottage next door. Why are the logos still surrounding the entry and dining room? They were part of the company’s display in the reception area and represent Creative Company’s work over the years. Because they fit so well, and represent some of the house’s history, they stayed.
