Pub Food with Brews
Craft beers and handcrafted, delicious food … beyond basic fries and burgers … are easy to find within a few blocks. Extensive menus, longer hours (hungry at 3 pm?) stop in for a bite and a brew you’ll savor.
The wonderful thing about staying at 726 Fourth is you can walk to nearly any type of dining you’re craving. When it comes to lively pubs with great food and crafted beer, here’s what we recommend.
Golden Valley Brewery & Restaurant
Opened in 1993, this long-time McMinnville institution is across the railroad tracks and 2 blocks up from the house, on the corner of Johnson and Third. A delightful outdoor patio dripping with wisteria welcomes you in warm weather, ample seating inside and a separate space for meetings and events, plus an ever-changing menu are just the beginning. Family friendly, excellent food and drinks and their own brews (plus others) earn high praise from both McMinnville regulars and out-of-town visitors.
From their website: “Every day, we provide our guests with organically raised produce from our gardens, fine handcrafted beers from our brewery, local Northwest distilled spirits, and excellent Oregon wines from the great Willamette Valley. Our diverse menu offers exceptional burgers, dry aged hand-cut steaks, pastas, fresh NW seafood, salads, sandwiches, and a full range of entrees. All of our food is made in house from scratch using fresh local ingredients whenever possible.”
Grain Station Brew Works
Just a few blocks away is the Alpine Avenue area, anchored by the Grain Station Brew Works. A great stop for summer dining outside on picnic tables, a to grab a bite when you’re wandering the area or headed to Mac Market.
From their website: “The heart and soul of our beer is in the love, hard work and character that are the roots of Oregon’s wine and farm country. We craft our beer in the spirit of our neighboring farmers, ranchers, and vintners who get their hands dirty every day, and we serve up meals to satisfy the appetite that comes with it.”
